Angul: Two people were killed and another sustained critical injury in lightning strikes in Angul district Wednesday.
The deceased duo identified as Santilata Pradhan and Baisakhi Pradhan belong to a family of Jarapada village near Derjang in this district.
According to reports, both of them were working in a farmland in the village when lightning struck them.
Another person of the same village was critically injured after being struck by lightning and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
Meanwhile, the regional meteorological centre forecasted heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours with the well-marked low pressure formed over Bay of Bengal turning into a depression.
