Puri: Beach police Sunday claimed to have arrested 22 more persons in connection with their alleged complicity in the clash between residents of Bali Nolia Sahi and Harijan Sahi here August 1.
“Of the 22 arrests, 12 belong to Bali Nolia Sahi while 10 are residents of Harijan Sahi here. Earlier, 31 persons were arrested in connection with the clash. With this, the total arrests in connection with the group clash reached 53,” a Beach police official said.
According to the case details, a trivial issue between the two villages snowballed with hundreds of residents from both the villages pelting stones and destroying properties August 1 night. However, normalcy was brought back in the localities after the intervention of the police personnel. The Beach police had registered a suo motu case (116/18). While 27 persons were arrested Wednesday, five more were arrested Thursday.
