Paikamal: Three bikers died after a Hywa truck hit their vehicle near Goibahali Square in Bargarh district Tuesday.
The deceased youths were identified as Madhav Kamlia, 28, Minaketan Kharsel, 30, and Mutal Bariha, 28, of Singhanpur under Padmapur police limits in the district. The mishap angered the local residents who staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased.
They relented after the bereaved family was promised of Rs 1 lakh compensation from the truck owner, Rs 10,000 from the Red-Cross and Rs 20 lakh under social security schemes after consultation with the authorities, IIC Biswajit Manbodh of Paikamal police station said.
