Puri: Puri Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Ramchandra Rout has said that the government has suspended three doctors and four healthcare workers for dereliction of duty and disobedience while carrying out special operations for augmentation of healthcare in this district.
Speaking to newsmen here Thursday, Rout added that as many as 49 medical teams along with 41 new doctors have been pressed into service to provide healthcare to the residents of Puri, which has been the most affected district by extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani.
The CDMO ruled out an outbreak of any epidemic but said “we have plans to control if an epidemic breaks out”.
The teams are monitoring water and food samples. As of Thursday, 122 water and food samples were tested.
“So far 2256 cases of diarrhoea, 4641 cases of fever, 1076 nos of skin related ailments, 251 dog and 18 snakebite cases were treated in the wake of cyclone and no Dengue case reported so far,” Rout said.
He further added that all 310 Community Health Centres (CHC) and Primary Health Centres (PHC) including the district headquarter hospital have been damaged in the cyclone.
