Paralakhemundi: At least three persons were arrested by Paralakhemundi police near Gandhi square here in Gajapati district late Saturday night for allegedly possessing illegal arms.
The police seized two country-made guns from their possession. The arrested have been identified as Amitabh Sabar (26) of Anukundaguda village, Mosesh Sabar (24) and Apelo Sabar (31) of Benariguda village. According to sources, the three bike-borne miscreants were intercepted by police who were conducting a vehicle checking in the area Saturday night.
The police found two country-made guns kept inside a gunny bag which the miscreants were carrying. Following this, the police immediately arrested them while seizing the illegal guns and the bike. Police have registered a case under Section 25 of the Arms Act.
“A probe into the case is underway,” said the inspector-in-charge, Babuli Nayak.
