Chitrakonda: As many as 33 students were taken ill after consuming midday meal (MDM) at the Temporary Colony Primary School here in Malkangiri district Monday.
According to teachers, the students were served mid-day meal comprising rice, dal and vegetable curry. After minutes, some students complained of uneasiness, stomachache and began vomiting. Only 33 of the 150 students who consumed the noon meal were taken ill. The reason for this reaction is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, the affected students were admitted to Chitrakonda Sub-divisional Hospital where their condition was reported to be stable.
According to Chitrakonda Medical Officer, the reason behind the illness will be known after proper examination of the students’ blood and stool.
