Bhubaneswar: About 15 percent of Odisha’s sanctioned IAS posts are vacant, with 36 of the 248 sanctioned posts remaining unfilled, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said in a written reply in the Assembly Monday.
The state currently has 212 IAS officers in service, of whom 25 are on central deputation. This leaves 187 IAS officers currently serving within the state.
Majhi said timely steps are being taken to fill the vacant posts through direct recruitment as well as promotion.
The sanctioned strength of the state’s IAS cadre is 248, indicating a shortfall of 36 officers against the approved strength. The Chief Minister’s reply did not specify the department-wise distribution of the vacant posts.
