Bhubaneswar, June 4: Over 46,100 students got ranks in the Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) 2015, the results of which were announced here Thursday.
Announcing the result, employment and technical education and training (ET&T) minister Sanjay Das Burma said while 44,421 students appeared in the exam, 46,166 students achieved ranks which will enable them to take admission into technical, management, planning, and pharmacy colleges in the state.
The number of students getting ranks is higher than the number of students who appeared in the examination as there is an option for students to enrol for more than one course, with several students selecting two courses such as MBA and MCA.
While 8,458 students got ranks to join in BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery) and BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic, Medicine and Surgery) courses, 8,540 students were awarded ranks in pharmacy, 6,481 in MBA, 1,669 in MCA, 1,028 in lateral entry MCA, 81 in MAM, 16,198 in lateral entry B Tech, 3,021 in M Tech, 240 in lateral entry B Pharma, 14 in M Architecture and 44 students in M Plan.
Counselling for admission to those courses would begin June 16 and would be completed before August 15, OJEE chairman Tusharkant Nath said.
A total of 44,421 students had appeared for the exam at 78 centres in 19 towns and cities in the state May 10.
There are around 45,170 seats available in different courses at government and private colleges across the state.
This is the first time the state has announced the results by organising a special function, and this tradition will continue in the future, an official said.
