Rairangpur/Bisoi: Four days after a woman was killed on the suspicion of practicing witchcraft at Tambajhari under Bisoi police limits in Mayurbhanj district, police arrested five persons involved in this connection Thursday.
The arrested were identified as Phulray Hembram (40), nephew of the deceased woman, Birasingh Murmu (21), Gamdu Tudu (36), Ramdas Tudu (45) and Ramesh Chandra Murmu (22). Rita Hembram (50), a widow, was found dead with her throat slit near a pond Saturday last.
Following a complaint, police started an investigation into the matter with a forensic team. During investigation, the accused admitted that they had eliminated the woman suspecting her to be a ‘witch’.
