Bonai: In a shocking incident, a 50-year old tribal woman sustained critical injuries after she was gangraped by two persons at remote Kusumdihi village under Chandiposh police limits in Sundargarh district late Sunday night.
The incident has come at a time when the whole village comprising of tribals was busy celebrating Nuakhai with feast and dance. The victim lost her sense as the miscreants gagged her mouth and tied her limbs and raped her while inflicting injuries on her private parts.
The matter came to fore when her son found her lying unconscious and rushed her to the Bonai sub-divisional hospital Monday morning.
There the doctors administered her primary treatment and shifted her to Rourkela after they found her health condition deteriorating. Chandiposh police started a probe with the help of their Gurundia counterparts after lately coming to know about the incident.
The incident occurred when the victim was asleep at home after attending the Nuakhai celebrations in the village. The two miscreants sneaked inside her house and gagged her mouth before tying her limbs to commit the act. They even inflicted injuries on her private parts when she struggled to free herself.
Locals alleged that the miscreants by now might have fled the area with the police officials remaining busy in the immersion ceremony in Rourkela. PNN
