Bhubaneswar, August 10: The state government’s law department Monday decided to open five civil judge courts, ten civil judge (senior) courts and 27 civil judge (junior) courts in a bid to provide justice expeditiously.
The decision to open the new courts was taken on the basis of the recommendations of a high-level committee constituted on the direction of the High Court.
Official sources here said the five civil judge courts will be set up at Pipili, R Udaygiri, Khariar, Birmaharajpur and Basudebupur.
The 10 civil judge (Senior) courts to be set up at Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Mayurbhanja will adjudicate women-related cases.
According to Law department sources, the proposal was approved by Law minister Arun Sahoo Monday. Besides, several proposals have also received the minister’s approval for implementation.
Likewise, 26 civil judge (junior division) courts will be set up by the state government at Telkoi in Keonjhar, Boden and Sinapali in Nuapada, Kotagarh in Kandhamal, Hemgiri and Koida in Sundargarh, Boriguma, Semliguda, Lamtaput and Dasmantpur in Koraput, Lanjigarh in Kalahandi, Krushnaprasad in Puri, Chandrapur in Rayagada, Mathili in Malkangiri, Aupada in Balasore, Jatni in Khurda, Banika in Sonpur, Baripal in Jajpur, Sergarh in Ganjam, Chandahandi in Nabarangpur and Likerare in Jharsuguda. Each court will have 11 posts including the judge, officials of the law department said, adding all these proposals have now been approved. The process to set up these courts will be expedited, they added.
The establishment of civil judge courts will help sort out legal issues in these areas, said the Law minister. The state government has also approved 11 posts including the post of judge for each court, he added.
