69th NCC Day celebrated

Bhubaneswar: National Cadet Corps (NCC), celebrated 69th anniversary here Sunday. A ceremony was held at BJB Autonomous College Ground, on the occasion where NCC Cadets apart from a smart and well coordinated march past, showcased various aspects their training.
The march past was followed by an impressive display of various activities by Army, Navy and Air Wings of NCC, which included aerobatics, continuity drill and a fine demonstration of how a section of infantry undertakes surgical strike to destroy an enemy post. The R&V Squadron cadets also showcased their skills in horsemanship in form of show jumping. Besides, cadets from Sambalpur Group stole the hearts of the audience by their folk dance presentation.
Governor of Orissa SC Jamir, presided over the function and reviewed the parade. Divya Shankar Mishra, MLA, was the guest of honour. Best Associate NCC Officer prize as well as Governor’s and Chief Minister’s cash award were given away to selected ANOs and cadets.
Addressing the function the Governor appreciated the skills demonstrated by NCC cadets in various fields and congratulated all prize winners. He complimented the NCC for the onerous task of shaping the youth of the state by instilling critical skills and qualities such as leadership, discipline, commitment and responsibility. He commended the contribution of NCC in the fields of national unity, national integration and nurturing the youth to be responsible citizens of this great country.
