Gurugram, Sept 8: A seven-year-old boy of a private school here, who was found crawling outside a toilet in the school profusely bleeding from a neck wound Friday, died. A bus conductor of the school has been arrested in connection with the murder of the second grader. Police claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of Ashok Kumar, the conductor.
Sumit Kuhar, DCP Crime, Gurugram, said the alleged killer had also tried to sodomise the boy. “When the student resisted and cried, he killed him and fled after leaving the knife behind,” the DCP said.
The police, who said they had detained ten people in connection with the incident, said they zeroed in on the accused based on accounts of two students who saw him walking down a corridor. Ashok Kumar confessed to the crime after being grilled by a team, the police said.
The boy’s father, Varun Thakur, who works as a quality manager with a private firm in Gurugram, accused the school administration of negligence and said he was not told how critical his child was.
“They told me his health had deteriorated suddenly. They did not take care of my son. He could have been saved if he had been taken to a hospital in time,” Thakur said. He had dropped off his son, Pradyuman, and daughter at the school in the morning, Thakur’s daughter is a Class V student of the school.
