8 held in swoop on gambling den

Balianta: The Balianta police raided a gambling den and arrested eight persons, at Tolakpada here late Friday.

Cash worth Rs 81,060, a car, ten mobile phones and several other items were also seized from the scene, police sources said.

The arrested were identified as Amar Kumar Patra, Sanjay Kumar Mallick, Sitakant Nanda, Arat Mallick, Ashutosh Mohapatra, Akhay Kumar Bhoi, Sanjay Kumar Rout and Pramod Rout.

Sources added after a tip-off, a patrolling team conducted the raid and arrested the eight. A case (181/18) was registered and the arrested were forwarded to court, said inspector-in-charge (IIC) Manoj Swain.
