Bhubaneswar, June 3: The state government will appoint 800 more assistant section officers in the next couple of months to help management of secretariat work, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Friday.
“As many as 139 ASOs had been appointed in 2016 and the government will appoint 800 more ASOs within a couple of months,” said Patnaik during the convention of Orissa Secretariat Service Association (OSSA) here, adding, “This will meet the shortage of secretarial officers and help ease management of Secretariat work.”
The Chief Minister said the Orissa secretariat service (OSS) cadre has been restructured four times in 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015 and a good number of posts has been created in the ranks of additional secretary, joint secretary, deputy secretary, under secretary, desk officer and section officer in order to create avenues of promotion.
He also said 272 officers have been promoted to different ranks in the OSS cadre.
Stating that his government is benevolent to the legitimate demands of OSSA, Patnaik said, “Your association had put forth its demands to equalise the pay structure at par with officers of OAS/OFS cadre and for enhancement of grade pay of the desk officers and recently, the government has rationalised the pay structure of the under secretaries of the cadre at par with OAS/OFS officers.”
“Regarding enhancement of grad pay of the desk officer, the matter is being examined,” he clarified. Moreover, Naveen requested the association members to be more dedicated to their assignments irrespective of their rank and position to ensure the government policies are shaped to benefit the common man.
