83-year-old man rescued, relocated

Choudwar: An 83-year-old man from Jajpur was rescued from an Aahar centre here Thursday and relocated at a shelter home in Chatia area.
Members of a city-based social outfit rescued a hapless Nilakantha Rout from the veranda of an Aahar centre at Gandhi Square here before relocating him at Sevak shelter home. Manas Kumar Sahu, a member of the outfit, said he spotted Rout shivering on the Aahar centre’s veranda on the chilling Thursday morning.
It is another instance of elderly being left abandoned by their children. “When I enquired, Rout narrated his heart-wrenching tale. The story of his son, who left Rout to live his fate, before leaving for his job in Angul a couple of months ago,” Sahu said.
The man from Dharmasala area in Jajpur had gone to seek help from his son in Angul. However, his son refused to take care of Rout.
