Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Monday said 95 per cent of grievances received during his public hearing sessions had been resolved, asserting that empathy, compassion and solidarity with people in distress were the basic principles of his government’s governance.
“Today alone, we received over 600 grievance petitions, both online and offline. While this is the 20th session, by the 19th session, of 15,327 cases received, 14,519, or 95 per cent, have been resolved. This shows that our government is with the people and their problems are given priority,” Majhi said after attending a public hearing session.
He said grievance hearings were also being conducted at the grassroots level at district and block headquarters on a rotational basis.
According to reports covering the period from July 1, 2024 to July 31 this year, 2,33,344 of 2,69,394 grievances, or 87 per cent, had been resolved, he said.
“Our administration is known as a ‘people’s government’. Wherever the public faces problems, we invariably reach out to address them,” Majhi said.
At the hearing, Majhi first heard the grievances of persons with disabilities and critically ill people who had come seeking relief.
He was accompanied by 10 ministers and senior officials from different departments.
He directed officials to take immediate action on complaints received from critically ill persons and sanctioned Rs 14.50 lakh as medical assistance to 16 people suffering from various chronic diseases through the Single Window System.
Seeking to underline his government’s focus on people in distress, Majhi said his administration gave priority to public grievances and reached out to people during natural calamities such as floods and cyclones.
“We have assisted farmers by declaring the unseasonal rains of 2024 as a natural disaster though it was not under the purview of the state disaster category. We have also provided assistance for the current floods. Our government is and will remain in the happiness and sorrow of the people,” the chief minister said.
