Bhubaneswar: A woman died late Saturday night due to suffocation when unidentified robbers in their bid to loot the house tied an elderly woman inside a bathroom as she protested their intention.
The tragic incident was reported from Chandrakot village under Delang police limits in Puri and the deceased has been identified as Puspalata Dash. Police said armed miscreants barged into the deceased woman’s house last night when she was alone. They attacked her when she resisted the miscreants from looting the property. The robbers tied the leg and hands of the woman, gagged her mouth and locked her inside the bathroom before fleeing with the valuables of the house.
The woman was rescued by her son Laxmidhar when he returned home. However, he did not get any response from his mother. He finally entered into the house through a window and found his mother locked inside the bathroom. The woman was rushed to the Sakhigopal Community Health Centre but the doctors declared her brought dead.
