New Delhi: The Supreme Court could not take up the Mahanadi water dispute issue Tuesday as the bench which was scheduled to take up the case did not sit.
Tuesday morning when the lawyers associated with the case and the media reached the apex court to take part in the case found a last minute change of the deferring the cases listed against the Court No-7 of the apex court where the matter was supposed to be taken up.
The matter was slated to be heard by a two-judge bench of the apex court comprising Justice SA Bobde and Justice L Nageswara Rao which had earlier heard the matters. In a latest development, the letter written by the Union Water Resources and River Development Minister Nitin Gadkari to the Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asking him to come for meeting for negotiations on the matter has been submitted to the court. The hearing of the case has not been listed till Tuesday evening.
