Bhubaneswar: Rourkela-based SAIL Hockey Academy (SHA) emerged runners-up Wednesday after losing 5-6 in shootout against Army Artillery Centre, Nasik in the 41st Narayan Singh Memorial All India Gold Cup hockey tournament at Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier SHA defeated Bhopal Hockey Academy 2-0 in the pre-quarterfinals, Gurgaon Sports Hostel 3-1 in the quarterfinals and Amritsar Hockey Academy 1-0 in the semifinals.
Gangpur eke out a draw
Hockey Gangpur played out a 1-1 draw Wednesday against Hockey Karnataka in a Pool A encounter of the VIIIth Hockey India Sub Junior Men’s National Championships at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh.
Karnataka took the lead in the 23rd minute through a field goal from Ganesh Majji. After the interval, Gangpur came back strongly and equalised in the closing stages with captain Sudeep Chirmako scoring in the 67th minute.
SBS enter final
Sisu Bharati School (SBS) entered the final of 19th Bhagaban Das Memorial Inter-School Junior football tournament as they eked out a narrow 1-0 victory over Cambridge School in a semifinal match at Cuttack, Wednesday. Bishnu Behera was adjudged player of the match.
In the senior segment, St Xaviers School registered a comprehensive 3-0 victory against PM Academy to enter the semifinals of the VIIth Basant Kumar Das Memorial Senior Inter-School football tournament, Wednesday. Shahrian Noor was chosen man of the match.
