Bhubaneswar: Conveying his greetings to the employees, East Coast Railway (ECoR) general manager Umesh Singh highlighted the achievements of this the blue chip zone of Indian Railways during the past one year.
Singh said till December 2017 end, ECoR has loaded 133.34 MT as against 129.83 MT achieved during the corresponding period of last year. Similarly, the zone generated total revenue worth `11545.33 crore as compared to `10837.44 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. “Our Operating Ratio- a key indicator of overall performance indices- stands at 57.91 % which is one of the best among all 17 zonal railways,” he added.
According to Singh, expansion of railway network and services has been another focus area of ECoR during the last year. In the process, 12.08 km. new line between Bolgarh Road and Nayagarh Town has been added to already operational section of Khurda Road – Bolgarh Road (41.5 Km.) of Khurda Road-Balangir new line project. “Though regarded as a premier freight loading Railway, has always been focusing on providing quality service to its passengers and meeting aspirations of local people,” ECoR GM said.
Emphasising on the safety and security of passengers, Singh said 46 level crossings have been closed, 46 limited height sub-ways in lieu of level crossings have been constructed. “I am happy to announce that it is being planned to eliminate all level crossings within the next year,” he added.
Talking about the zone’s top asset – its employees, as well as their achievements in various fields, including sports, Singh reminded his employees not to be complacent about their achievements, but strive harder in future to fulfill the demands and requirements of the passengers as well as customers.
