Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: The National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) has envisaged Rs 2,484 crore as disbursement of credit for potential sectoral activities in a phased manner from 2018-19 to 2022-2023.
An official of the bank said while formulating bank’s sectoral activities at the district level, an indicative unit cost has been assumed based on the prevalent conditions in the district. However, banks may change the unit cost and margin while extending finance, keeping in view of the ground level conditions and prevalent lending norms,” KC Panigrahi, chief general manager, Nabard Bhubaneswar Chapter, told Orissa POST.
He said the Area Development Scheme is approved at the DCC meeting and is also discussed during the Block Level Bankers Committee (BLBC) meetings.
The official said approximately Rs 1,743 crore is allotted for dairy related products to develop 56,737 physical units.
The bank has also envisaged Rs 3,995.28 crore for 1,013 physical units to develop poultry in the state under the animal husbandry segment.
“Rs 16,828.75 crore has been envisaged to develop 26,604 goatery units for the next five years and the banks will be guided by this document,” he said.
The bank has also outlined Rs 400 crore for the development of 10,105 units of ponds for fisheries in the state.
For the farm mechanisation sector, the bank has recommended the credit linkage of Rs 108 crore to develop various farm equipments.
On the responsibility of banks, he said they could consider extending finance for setting up units in a cluster basis.
The line department of the government is required to extend cooperation in providing technical inputs, identification of potential beneficiaries as well as facilitate financing by banks in a cluster mode, he pointed out.
“Rs 68.65 crore has been outlined in our report for the plantation & horticulture in the state for next five years from 2018,” he added. (PNN)
