Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: Ahead of the budget session of Assembly, a state-level commercial tax consultation meeting was held under the chairmanship of finance minister Pradip Amat Thursday.
Industrial growth would not only help the state generate more revenue but also accelerate the employment opportunities, Amat said.
Due to implementation of online service delivery system, the commercial tax payers are getting all kinds of services at their doorsteps, he added.
The micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) industrialists requested the state government to urge the Union government to direct Central PSUs to procure materials from MSME units in state. Presently, the Central PSUs are procuring materials from outside the state by paying two per cent tax. If the state will urge the Centre, then the tax will be saved and the state-based MSMEs will be benefited.
The meeting also said the state records a business of around Rs 100-crore though online commerce system every month, but the government is not getting a single pie.
The proposals presented in the meeting would be examined by the government and necessary action taken, said the finance minister.
