Koraput: A five-member delegation of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) led by DSP Rabi Singh Monday arrived here to probe the ‘gangrape’ and subsequent suicide of a minor girl of Kunduli that rocked state recently.
The team, after reaching the circuit house, held talks with additional superintendent of police VR Rao, the district human rights commissioner, the doctor who was treating the victim at the Koraput medical college and hospital and district child protection officer Rajashri Das.
Anybody wants to give any information to the delegation in the matter can do so Thursday, DSP Singh said.
The members are expected to visit the site where the girl was ‘raped’ and speak to her family members at her village Musaput, it was learnt.
They would also hold a discussion with the south-western DIG S Saini and SP Kanwar Vishal Singh and superintendent of the medical college during their four-day stay in the district.
The Class IX girl was allegedly raped by four men in uniform October 10. She was admitted to the medical college and hospital in a critical condition. However, she ended her life two weeks back. Torture by the police during her stay at the hospital was a reason behind the suicide, a report said.
Earlier, the state government announced a crime branch and a judicial probe into the incident which are yet to be completed. PNN
