ECoR gets Rs 6,553 cr, state share Rs 5,252 cr

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway has been allocated Rs 6,553 crore in the Union Budget 2018-19, East Coast Railways (ECoR) General Manager Umesh Singh said Tuesday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had demanded Rs 6,500 crore from the Centre for railway projects. Although Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have a share in the budget, unconfirmed sources put the Centre’s allocation for Orissa at Rs 5,252 crore.
The GM also revealed budgetary allocations for new lines and doubling projects. Among new projects, Angul-Sukinda Road (98.7 km), Daitari-Bansapani (155 km), Haridaspur-Paradeep (82 km), Khurda Road-Bolangir (289 km), Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh (new line), Talcher-Bimlagarh (154 km), Jeypore-Malkangiri (38 km) and Nuapara-Gunupur new broad gauge line up to Theruvali got Rs 200 crore, Rs 0.10 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 625 crore, Rs 1 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 95 crore, Rs 150 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.
Similarly, the Jharsuguda-Rengali (25.6 km), Sambalpur-Rengali (22.7 km), Khurda-Barang third line (35 km), Cutack-Barang (12 km), Sambalpur-Talcher (174.11 km), Deland-Puri (28.7 km), Sambalpur-Titilagarh (182.11 km), Banspani-Daitari-Tomka-Jakhpura (180 km), Brundamal-Jharsuguda-flyover connection for joining down line (6.6 km), Rajathgarh-Baranga (20 km), Bhadrak-Nergundi-third line (80 km), VZM-SBP (3rd line), Jharapada-Budapank (3rd and 4th line), Budapank-VZM-3rd line (80 km), Koraput-Singapore Road and KUR-VZM bypass have budgetary allocations of Rs 3.05 crore, Rs 0.50 crore, Rs 15 crore, Rs 1.50 crore, Rs 220 crore, Rs 0.45 crore, Rs 50 crore, Rs 80 crore, Rs 5.30 crore, Rs 4 crore, Rs 55 crore, Rs 379 crore, Rs 120 crore, Rs 1 crore, Rs 110 crore, Rs 11.91 crore respectively.
The augmentation of Angul ELS’s holding capacity from 100 AC locos to 150, freight train maintenance facility with ROH at Maneswar, setting up of electric loco POH workshop and Vadlapudi-Wagon POH workshop of 200 numbers capacity near Duvvada are some of the important projects that feature in the budgetary allocations. Their allocations are Rs 9.67 crore, Rs 10.74 crore, Rs 0.26 crore and Rs 150 crore respectively.
Money has been allocated for two new surveys. Against an estimated cost of Rs 0.50 crore for Reconnaissance Engineering cum Traffic Survey for a new line between Talcher-Gopalpur- Ganjam (200 km), Rs 0.05 crore has been allocated. Similarly Rs 0.04 crore has been allocated against an estimated cost of Rs 0.22 crore for preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey for two flyovers at Baghuapal and Singapore Road (44 km).
In Pink Book 2018-19, 10 new projects have been sanctioned at a cost of `1,933.60 crore. These new projects and their allocation are for crossing station, connectivity from coaching complex to station, additional loop and extension of loop (`215 crore), improvement of stations `100 crore, provision of FOB and HL platforms `300 crore, construction of ROB/RUBin EcoR `190 crore, development of infrastructure for maintenance of LHB coaches at Mancheswar `15.94 crore, upgradation of power supply for traction distribution `48.08 crore, 11 signal works `178.47 crore, 18 bridges `118.21 crore, 60 track projects `764.81 crore and protection work at Dalimili-Silakjhori `3.09 crore.
Orissa had been allocated `657.60 crore in 2009-10, `900.3 crore in 2010-11, `1,100.3 crore in 2011-12, `719.3 crore in 2012-13, `812.5 crore in 2013-14, `1,465 crore in 2014-15, `3,712 crore in 2015-16, `4,682 crore in 2016-17 and `5102 in the Budget for 2017-18.
