Kuanrmunda: The Kuanrmunda police Friday busted an inter-state vehicle looters’ gang and arrested three looters on the charge of poisoning a driver and looting his vehicle.
They have been identified as Nabin Kumar Jha (45) of Hulash village under Raghabpur police limits in Bihar, Nitesh Kumar Mishra (22) of Kanthajodi village under Bonai police limits and Siba Charan Gop (30) of Koldaphai village under Biramitrapur police limits in Sundargarh district. Another member of the gang, Debendra Jha, was on the run.
The investigating police team also seized the looted vehicle from their possession. A case was registered and the three were produced in a court while a manhunt was launched to nab the absconder.
According to police, the modus operandi of the gang was to hire vehicles and loot them after poisoning their drivers. As per their plan, they hired an SUV from Chhattisgarh. Mid-way they laced poison in the drinks of the driver. They fled with the vehicle after the driver fell unconscious. They changed the vehicle’s registration number and sold it to a person named Sital Pothal of Kuanrmunda for Rs 4 lakh.
On learning that he has been taken for a ride, Sital alerted the police. PNN
