Kendrapara: Patkura police registered a case against a 23-year-old diploma student Sachin Samal of Narada village for allegedly raping his classmate 22-year-old girl, Tulashi (name changed) of Kahana village under Patkura police station February 2.
Sujit Pradhan, the IIC of Patkura police station, said the victim lodged an FIR claiming that she had fallen in love with her classmate through social media.
In the evening of February 2, Sachin allegedly took her to a secluded place by gagging her and raped her. He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anybody. She became critical and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. After she recovered, she returned home and lodged an FIR at Patkura police station Wednesday.
Patkura police registered a case against Sachin and started an inquiry. The accused youth is yet to be arrested as he has fled the village, said Pradhan. PNN
