Phiringia: Police arrested a woman for the murder of her husband whose blood soaked body was recovered from his home at Kalipanga village under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district February 7.
The accused identified as Sabitri Sahu (28) is the second wife of the deceased, Arta Sahu in the village. Police claimed constant fights between the deceased and his two wives led to the murder. Arta was first married to the elder sister of Sabitri and later accepted her as his second wife. She confessed to having killed him and was produced in court Saturday, Phiringia IIC Dhiren Kumar Behera said.
He however, never performed his family responsibilities as he was an alcoholic and spent all his earnings on liquor. This led to constant fights between Arta and his two wives.
On the fateful day, he had a fight with them on the issue and tried to beat up his two wives and children. They fled and saved themselves. Fed up with him, Sabitri decided to kill Arta when he was asleep. PNN
