Raisuan: Housing schemes are meant for the poor and the disadvantaged sections of people, but a poor family of seven is living a miserable life at Salarapentha under Mahadeijoda panchayat in Keojhar without a housing unit.
Birabnchi Pentei, a daily wager, has been doing odd jobs to keep his pot boiling. His house has been in bad shape. “But I am unable to repair the house for fund constraint,” he lamented.
He, his wife, his two sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandkids are living in the dilapidated house. Walls have cracked and its roof blown away.
Pentei had several times in the past taken up the housing issue with the panchayat and the block office, but to no avail.
When rain or storm approaches, the family shifts to others’ houses. Locals have demanded a housing unit under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Pentei.
