Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: The state government has ordered a crime branch inquiry into the murder of RTI activist Krupasindhu Sahu from Niali in Cuttack, parliamentary affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh said Monday in the Assembly, which also witnessed a debate after Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra leveled an abduction charge against handlooms, textiles & handicrafts minister Snehangini Chhuria.
Arukh said police have arrested three persons in connection with the RTI activist’s murder.
“The investigation to the murder case of RTI activist Krupasindhu Sahu was being done by Inspector in charge of Niali police station after an FIR was lodged by his wife Laxmipriya Sahu,” said Arukh during Zero Hour. “Laxmipriya in her written complain January 28 had said that Sahu was missing since January 26 evening,” he said.
“Krupasindhu Sahu was last seen with Kartika Pani of Krushnaprasad Village. Kartika’s mother Sushila Pani and two others Manju Sahu and Pratap Kumar Jana admitted that Kartika had murdered Krupasindhu January 26 night and buried his body at a riverside near Bainchua village,” he said.
“Krupasindhu’s body was recovered and sent for autopsy. Police arrested Sushila Pani, Manju Sahu and Pratap Kumar Jena and produced them in court,” he said.
“The government has ordered a Crime Branch probe in this case,” Arukh said.
The House also witnessed a burning debate when Narasingha Mishra of the Congress alleged during Zero Hour that Chhuria had abducted a man of her rival group during co-operative elections in Bargarh.
“Though an FIR was lodged January 25, it was registered January 29. Despite the minister’s name being mentioned in the FIR, the police dropped her name from the case,” Mishra said.
Chhuria, however, termed the allegation baseless and politically motivated. “I am prepared to face any investigation on the matter,” she said.
