Bhubaneswar: Legendary lyricist Narayan Prasad Singh, popularly known as ‘Rasaraj’, passed away following prolonged illness here Wednesday. He breathed his last at his residence at VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar. He was 86.
Eminent personalities in the film industry rushed to his residence to pay respects to the departed soul.
Born on May 28, 1933 Narayan Prasad Singh earned a big name in the world of Odia music. He was the author many soulful, melodious songs in Odia cinema.
He debuted by writing for AIR Cuttack. He became ‘Rasaraj’ in the Odia film industry for penning around a 100 songs that touched the hearts of all everywhere in Odisha.
The songs ‘Ae ta kali kaal reeti biparita bhai re’, ‘Udi udi jaye gudi’, ‘Jeevan Jamuna re Juara uthere’ and ‘Ratani gaja gamani’ were his masterpieces.
