Khariar: A woman who was undergoing treatment after being poisoned by her husband and a relative died Monday after battling for life for 15 days.
The deceased was identified as Tanuja Meher. The accused Hembram Meher and Purnima Meher had reportedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving train a few days ago when the police were on the lookout for them. Their bodies were recovered from Kantabanji station.
According to locals, Hembram allegedly had an illicit relationship with his brother’s wife Purnima.
When Tanuja came to know of it, the two cunningly administered a poisonous injection in bid to kill her. However, she was rescued by family members and admitted to hospital.
Shockingly, the two were found dead in Kantabanji railway station. While police suspected they committed suicide by jumping before the train after their illicit affair came to light, nothing was ascertained.
Purnima’s family members, however, claimed that the two were killed in a pre-planned manner after their extramarital affair became public.
The death of Tanuja has added to the mystery of the whole incident. Police seized Tanuja’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
