Keonjhar: In a bizarre incident, a youth sliced off his own tongue at the Maa Tarini temple in Ghatagon in Keonjhar district to get his wishes fulfilled by the presiding deity Saturday. Instead, he had to be admitted to a hospital after his condition worsened.
The devotee has been identified as Dasharathi Jena of Thakurmunda area in Mayurbhanj district.
Dasarathi, who reached the temple to offer prayer in the morning suddenly cut his tongue with a shaving blade. He bled profusely and turned critical on the spot.
A group of servitors and officials of the temple rushed Dasarathi to Ghatagaon Community Health Centre (CHC) where he is currently undergoing treatment.
While the Ghatagaon Police have filed a case, it has been claimed that the youth took the step out of his own “faith and belief.” However, an investigation is going on.
