Malkangiri: A powerful Nor’wester impact with heavy rain and gusty winds caused havoc across Malkangiri district Wednesday night, injuring three persons.
Trees were uprooted at many places and branches fell and damaged houses at two different places in Khairaput block during the rain. Traffic on several stretches including the main road connecting Jeypore and Malkangiri came to a halt as uprooted trees lay on roads for long hours.
Communication and power services were disrupted as the overhead lines in most parts of the district got snapped.
