Pottangi (Koraput): A three-member judicial probe team Sunday visited Mushaguda village under Pottangi block to investigate the alleged ‘gangrape’ of a girl near Kunduli weekly market and her subsequent death.
The team comprising district judge Bidyut Kumar Mishra, the head of the commission, registrar and secretary of the commission Hemant Biswal and government advocate Prabhakar Patnaiak met the girl’s mother. The family didn’t have prior information on the visit of the panel, the girl’s mother alleged.
They also went to the locations where the girl had been to before being ‘gangraped’. ASP BR Rao, Semiliguda tehsildar Anil Kumar Sethi, BDO Trinath Majhi were among others who accompanied the probe team.
Four men in uniform allegedly raped the girl October 10, last year but HRPC in its report said that she was not raped. Following this, the minor girl committed suicide January 22. The Chief Minister ordered an SIT probe February 7 and a report in next three months.
