Puri: A tourist from West Bengal drowned while taking bath in the sprawling Puri beach waters Tuesday. He was Prasant Chand (60) of South Chabish Pragana in WB.
The Baliapanda police sent the body for post-mortem to the district hospital. A case of unnatural death has been registered and a probe launched.
First reports said Prasant arrived here with his family members two days ago. After visiting the Puri temple, they went to take bath in the beach. The elderly man, with no swimming experience, was pulled into the water and drowned.
Life guards posted at the beach jumped into action and rescued him. However, when he was taken to the district hospital, doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
