Biramaharajpur: Police here arrested three persons involved in a fake currency racket in Subarnapur district. SDPO Dheeraj Chopdar Friday said fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were recovered from the accused.
The accused were identified as Rajesh Sahoo, Ranjit Nayak, both are from Boudh district and Sarbeswar from Sonepur.
Police recovered 81 fake currency notes of Rs500 denomination from them, besides a Scorpio and a mobile phone.
The trio was Friday produced in court.
According to police, the accused had bought four goats from Jayamani Lakra of Surudhapali village of Durjantaila panchayat under Biramaharajpur police limits April 16. They gave Lakra 81 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination towards the price of goats. Later, Lakra found out notes were fake.
Lakra lodged a complaint with Biramaharajpur police. The three were arrested Thursday. Police are investigating the matter.
