Rayagada: Seeking fulfillment of their longstanding demands, a group of residents staged demonstration in front of the main gate of IMFA plant at Therubali in this district Wednesday.
The agitation disrupted the operation of the plant as tension prevailed among workers.
The demands of locals include regularisation of jobs of contractual employees at the plant, basic amenities and jobs for unemployed youths.
In May, the locals including tribals from seven panchayats of the district started their protest to press their nine-point charter of demands.
The protestors had then ransacked the machinery, CCTV cameras and lights installed near the factory gate.
The agitators had relented following a tripartite meeting between the district officials, plant authorities and agitators.
The agitation was called off May 11 after the district administration assured that their demands will be considered.
They alleged that none of their demands have been met so far following which they are forced to intensify their protests now.
Expressing resentment to the district administration and the IMFA plant authorities for not abiding by their promises, they warned to continue the protest this time until their demands are fulfilled
