Bolangir: A man committed suicide by hanging himself in his rented house at Rameshwara Nagar in this district over marital discord, Thursday night, police said Friday.
Neighbour’s spotted the body hanging from the ceiling of the house in the morning. The deceased was Prahlad Mishra. Police sent the body for post-mortem.
It is learnt that his wife had left him six months ago, irritated over frequent family quarrels. She was now staying with her parents. Mishra also left his home thereafter, and stayed in a rented house in Rameshwara Nagar.
Family members were trying to contact him for three days, but there was no response. Suspecting that something went wrong, they contacted his neighbours to check on his whereabouts. They found that the man ended his life by hanging.
“We are staying in different houses. We cannot say what has happened. He had disputes with his wife. Their only child is staying with us. He had no enmity with anyone and we believe he has committed suicide,” said Mishra’s father.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. “We have registered a case. The body has been sent for post mortem. We can ascertain the reason for his death only after getting the autopsy report,” police said.
