Bhubaneswar: The Department of Higher Education (DHE) Tuesday declared the first merit cut-off list of selected candidates for admission into Plus III courses for academic year 2018-19.
The selected candidates can now take admission in various degree colleges affiliated to different universities.
More than 2 lakh students had applied through DHE out of which 1,88,960 students have been selected on the basis of the first cut-off list, informed sources said.
Admission will begin July 4 and continue till July 7.
The second cut-off merit list will be published July 11 and the admission will be on July 12 and 13. The timeline for offline Common Application Form (CAF) and admission for the remaining seats is between July 16 and 18. The classes for degree courses in colleges will begin July 16. The department has advised students to go through the common prospectus before submitting the CAF.
Admission-in-charge of Higher Education Department, Mihir Kumar Das, said: “The first phase admission in various colleges will begin tomorrow and continue till July 7 for the selected students. We have sent intimation to students through messages and the students can also check available information on the official website and at nearby colleges.”
Das further stated that the selected students will have to take admission on the basis of the merit list and there will be auto-admission after the second merit list, if there is a slide-up. The students are advised to check the official websites www.dheodisha.gov.in and www.samsodisha.gov.in for more information about the Plus III admissions for 2018-19 session.
The application process for Plus III admissions had earlier started through a Common Application Form on DHE’s official websites June 12.
Students applying for admission in various streams have been asked to select at least five colleges and a maximum of 10 colleges this year.
Highest cut-off percentages announced for different subjects at top colleges are:
Arts Stream: Geography 89.8, Odia 74.83, Education 75.83, Economics 82.6, English 80.33 and Political Science 79.2%.
Physical Sciences: Mathematics 92.17, Physics 91.6 and Chemistry 90.6.
Commerce: 84.17 Self financing courses: Bio-technology 86.2 and Computer Science 87.6.
