Kendrapara: The body of a school girl, who had gone missing from morning, was found in a pit on the premises of Bajramahakali M.E. School Tuesday evening in this district.
According to reports, the student went missing from the campus Tuesday.
The incident spread outrage as the girl’s family members demanded a thorough probe and action against those guilty.
The Kendrapara district education officer suspended school headmistress Kanchanabala Behera. The DEO also withheld salaries of two teachers.
The matter came to the fore when the friends of the girl, who failed to find her, informed the school authorities.
After their search proved futile, the school authorities lodged a missing persons’ complaint at the local police station.
Acting on the complaint, police swung into action and started a probe.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and the body was sent for autopsy.
