Cuttack: The Fire services department has decided to felicitate the personnel who rescued a woman from Kuakhai river near Bhubaneswar during a two hour-long operation Monday.
The woman, identified as Sumitra Das,49, of Behera Sahi in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar, had jumped into Kuakhai river near Hanspal in an attempt to commit suicide over some family issue around the noon Monday.
A fire brigade team had rescued her near Tankapani over-bridge, at least 6 km away from Hanspal around 2 pm. Das was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
“We will felicitate all our personnel who had participated in the rescue operation,” said Fire services director general Bijay Kumar Sharma.
