Bhubaneswar: The Assistant Executive Engineer in Road and Building department, Jibesh Rath, along with his wife was Tuesday convicted of possessing disproportionate assets (DA) beyond their known sources of income by a special vigilance court here.
Following a tip-off, vigilance sleuths led by crime DSP carried out several raids at different places in the city including his office and quarters. The sleuths also conducted raids at his residences at Pokhariput and Chandrasekharpur area. The investigating officials of the vigilance department unearthed around 27 lakh of unaccounted cash and properties in Rath’s name. His wife Nina Tripathy was also convicted by the court in DA case as many properties were found registered in her name.
Judge Shyam Sundar Dash sentenced Rath to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment. Dash also asked him to pay Rs.10000 failing which he has to undergo six months additional jail term.
