Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to waive user fee for patients visiting the government run hospitals in Odisha from Independence Day this year.
As the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana – state’s own healthcare insurance scheme – is all set to be launched August 15, the authorities are planning to gift the people of the state exempting them from giving user charges at the hospitals including all the Primary Health Centres (PHC) to District Headquarters Hospitals (DHH) on the auspicious day.
The State Health Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda has written a letter in this regard to all the district collectors and civic bodies for successful implementation of the facilities at the government hospitals from August 15.
However, the cabin fee of In-Patient Department (IPD) will not be included in the user fee waiving facility plan.
The authorities have fixed Rs 5 each for the patients visiting Out Patient Department (OPD) of the government hospital and Rs 10 from IPD patients as the user fee.
With the recent move, the patients need not to pay user fee any more for visiting the government hospitals from August 15.
