Rayagada, Feb 28: Accusing the school principal Rajendra Narayan Dakhinakabat of misbehaving with them, around hundred students of Ekalavya Model School at Siriguda on the outskirts of Rayagada town approached the district administration to demand disciplinary action against him Saturday.
The students alleged that the principal has not only tried to misbehave with girls but also tried to make sexual advances. “Whenever a girl goes to him to clear her doubt on any topic, he asks her to meet him at his residence alone. The girls’ hostel superintendent is aware of the matter but she is not raising her voice against him,” a student said.
The students also alleged that the principal has engaged a lady peon of the school as his domestic help and he is having illicit relationship with her.
“He is involved in large scale irregularities. He has not taken any sincere step to solve the problems of the school during last two years. The students are being provided low-quality food in the hostel,” said another student.
Demanding his immediate transfer and disciplinary action against him, the students also staged a dharna at the school.
Students met additional district magistrate (ADM) Laxmikant Behera as the collector was not present. The ADM directed some officials visit school to probe into the matter. In compliance with his direction, three officials went to the school and held talks with the students and teachers on the matter. They later apprised the ADM about their findings.
The ADM said that the tehsildar Nilu Mohapatra would go to the school Monday to probe the matter. Meanwhile, Dakhinakabat has refuted all the allegations against him.
