Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a Deemed-to-be-University, has entered into a pact with Cambridge University in the United Kingdom for research on ‘Transforming India’s Green Revolution by Research and Empowerment for Sustainable Food Supplies’.
Awarded by Cambridge University, KISS is a lead partner for the multi-year project. The first-of-its-kind project focuses on new technological innovations in the area of sustainable agriculture and nutrition security, going beyond the seed-fertiliser-water package of the Green Revolution, sources said.
In accordance with the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, the research aims to trigger a second Green Revolution which would not only increase crop productivity but will also go a long way in water conservation, soil quality and plant bio-diversity among others.
The project will be led by advisor to KISS and chief mentor to Neeti Foundation Suraj Kumar.
Meanwhile, delighted over KISS availing such a new research project in India, KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta said Cambridge University providing such an opportunity to the institute reflected its appreciation of the determination of KISS in the field of tribal empowerment.
