Bhubaneswar: The Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the state government Sunday apprised the Kerala government of 187 names of flood-hit Odias living in the southern coastal state and urged the Kerala government to assist them.
The department Sunday provided a list of the 187 persons hailing from different parts of Odisha who had reportedly contacted the Odisha government seeking relief and rescue assistance.
This comes days after the state government announced a helpline for the people from Odisha who are stuck in flood-hit Kerala and need government assistance. The department, in the letter addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary, Disaster Management of Kerala government, has provided the mobile numbers and other details of the affected Odias in the southern state.
In the letter written to the Kerala government, OSD of the state Revenue and Disaster Management said, “I am directed to send with a list of persons from the state of Odisha received by the State Emergency Operation Centre who, are trapped in the recent floods. It is requested to kindly made necessary arrangement for providing necessary support in terms of food, drinking water and other necessities to those people.”
The list listed distressed people from Odisha stuck in areas like-Ernakulam, Perambador, Trisul, Perumpada, Naringgudi, Edapali, Kakesa, Trishur, Alluar, Kochi, Peramputy, Chialkudi, Dhansali, Chengalors and Kaladi among other destinations.
The state government recently started their helpline numbers from the office of the Special Relief Commissioner to reach out these people in Kerala. The state has already requested the Kerala government to facilitate relief to the Odias living in the state and assist them in the best possible way besides giving financial assistance and sending fire safety personnel from the state to assist the state in tackling the aftermaths of rains and flood like situation in the state.
