Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a youth killed his father by setting the latter on fire at CDA Sector-6 area in Cuttack.
Though the incident occurred Sunday, the youth was arrested after his mother lodged a complaint with Markat Nagar police Monday.
The accused has been identified as Santosh Sahu.
As per the complaint, Santosh had asked his father Muralidhar, an employee of Orissa High Court, to give him Rs 15 lakh on the fateful day.
When his father refused to give him the money, Santosh, in a fit of rage took out petrol from a two-wheeler and poured it on Muralidhar. Later, he set his father ablaze.
The fire personnel reached the spot, rescued the victim and admitted him to a hospital.
However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment Monday morning.
