Soro: Former Finance Minister Jadunath Das Mohapatra passed away Tuesday. He was elected from Soro in Balasore in 1971. He was education minister in the cabinet of late Chief Minister Nandini Satpathy in 1974.
He was also made education minister in the cabinet of late Chief Minister Janaki Ballabh Patnaik in 1985.
He was born to Rabinarayan Das Mohapatra and Rasamani Devi at Kudei. After doing his graduation in Ravenshaw College, he did LLB in Calcutta University.
He was also a renowned litterateur. He has written 20 novels, 16 plays, 12 anthologies of poems and literary write-ups.
