Salipur: Tension ran high at Mahanga Ostamula village after local residents staged a road blockade Saturday night alleging medical negligence over the death of a girl at Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack.
Gitanjali was a cancer patient and was admitted to the centre Saturday but the doctors declared her dead.
However, Gitanjali’s family members alleged that she died due to medical negligence.
Following this, the irate family members and villagers blocked the Cuttack-Kuanpala road.
According to reports, the agitators withdrew the agitation Sunday morning after the tehsildar offered aid of Rs 10,000 to the bereaved family.
The locals demanded more compensation for the kin of the deceased.
